Mission Data provides lifecycle support as Renzell goes nationwide
When it comes to choosing a high-end restaurant, diners usually look to authorities such as Zagat, Michelin Guides, or the World’s 50 Best list. In the fall of 2015, a new service, Renzell, arrived to disrupt that system by offering a data-driven approach, rather than a subjective one. After a successful launch, Mission Data partnered with Renzell to continue the product roadmap and provide IT support services while they focused on expanding from three to 11 markets.
Renzell is a membership club for luxury dining enthusiasts with several thousand members in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York City, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Seattle, and Washington DC. This summer, the company will expand to several new markets, continuing its healthy growth trajectory.
Membership is free, but those applying for survey-taking status must meet specific requirements to ensure lack of conflicts. They dine anonymously on their own dime, and are experienced connoisseurs of high-end establishments.
The comprehensive survey includes more than 70 questions, creating a holistic view of the restaurant, and Renzell’s proprietary algorithm creates an accurate assessment of the guest experience offered by each restaurant. Renzell releases annual ratings for all restaurants it covers, enabling consumers to curate their dining decisions with accurate assessments of how a restaurant performs on a regular basis.
In New York, Eleven Madison Park ranks #1 overall and has top ranking for cocktails and design. (The iconic restaurant was recently named #1 on the World’s 50 Best list.) David Chang’s 23-seat Momofuku Ko comes in at #2, with the highest marks for hospitality.
To keep members engaged, Renzell releases incentive points which members can use for special experiences, such as private tasting menus at Renzell-listed restaurants. Members and non-members alike can keep up with Renzell’s blog content on the luxury restaurant industry, which features interviews with top chefs, musings on hospitality trends, and even restaurant playlists.
Mission Data supports Renzell with hosting and maintenance of web and native apps, providing updates as the company decides to add new features. Builds for iOS and Android use Cordova, and the web app is built in Angular.
